The success of public transport

What is the secret of success for public transport? What are the prerequisites for public transport to succeed? Where can examples for successful public transport be found in urban and rural environments? These are the three key questions discussed by the present VCÖ publication on the success of public transport.

Among other aspects, VCÖ presents the consequences regarding the demand for rail and bus transport that are to be expected if the present development of rising crude oil prices, demographic change and the pursuit of climate protection goals continues. Some of the themes outlined are how to act now to avoid capacity shortages in the future, what passengers request from public transport and the significance of ticket prices in this respect, as well as the usefulness of e-ticketing in public transport. Relevant facts and numerous figures are included to illustrate the issues analysed in this publication. (Publication in German language)
